Biography
Every movement Mila Laplante makes tells a story, and every stage she steps on becomes her canvas. Born in Ottawa, Ontario, and now living in Gatineau, Quebec, Mila is a dancer who has already established herself as a captivating artist with a powerful stage presence.
Mila trains in ballet, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, and tap. Her versatility allows her to adapt to many choreographic voices while developing her own unique style. She has trained in more than five different studios, including Playground Dance Studio in Los Angeles, California, seeking diverse experiences and learning from a wide range of choreographers to broaden her technical foundation and artistic growth. Mila is also a dedicated Business of Dance Mentee, pursuing mentorship and professional development within the industry. Recently, she became a Brand Ambassador for PM Photography in Los Angeles, California, combining her love for dance on and off the stage, with a growing interest in modelling and visual storytelling.
Mila’s competitive career accelerated in 2023–2024 when she won a scholarship at the 5678 Showtime Dance Competition, which led to the Paris Dance Tour in July 2024, where she trained intensively with internationally renowned instructors. Later that year, she attended the NUVO Dance Convention in Toronto, earning a full convention scholarship to The Dance Awards and an invitation to compete for The Best Dancer in Orlando, Florida, in July 2025.
Mila also gained international performance experience as a cast member on the reality show That Girl Lola with We The Studios in Los Angeles, California, where she performed and trained in a professional television setting.
In the 2024–2025 season, Mila received multiple prestigious scholarships, including the Dance Masters of Canada Convention Scholarship at The Breakthru Dance Challenge, where she was named Dancer with Most Potential. She also earned the Near North Talent Scholarship from Shine Dance Competition and the Terpsichore Dance Convention Scholarship from Terpsichore Dance Celebration. She was a Regional Winner of the Canadian Dance Awards (CDA) Ultimate Challenge and earned invitations to nationals for both Terpsichore Nationals as Top Dancer and the CDA’s America’s Dancer of the Year.
Mila also won multiple overall and special awards for her solos in lyrical, jazz, and contemporary, along with recognition for her group dances and productions. Mila’s artistry blends technical precision with emotional depth. Known for her musicality, expression, and storytelling, she brings both strength and vulnerability to the stage, creating performances that resonate with audiences and adjudicators alike. Beyond competition, Mila shares her passion for dance with her community. She performs annually at the Hot Air Balloon Festival in Gatineau, captivating large audiences alongside her studio and inspiring younger dancers.
With talent, discipline, and passion driving her forward, Mila continues to grow as both a performer and an artist. Her journey reflects hard work, creativity, and a genuine love for dance that inspires those around her. As a Brand Ambassador for PM Photography, she is sharing her artistic vision through both dance and modelling, connecting with audiences beyond the stage. Looking ahead, she aspires to further pursue modelling alongside her dance career, continuing to expand her artistry in multiple creative avenues.
